London Scottish Fall Short Under the Lights

In front of a packed out and raucous Richmond Athletic Ground, the stage was set for the first London Scottish home fixture of the season. However, Nottingham determined to spoil the party were the victors on a buzzing Friday night in West London.

Things could not have started worse for the Scots as within seconds Nottingham regathered the kick off and chipped over to regather then score under the posts. However, the Exiles hit back well throughout the first forty.

Despite periods of pressure the Scots were unable to convert said territory and possession into points. Key turnovers at crucial moments, Nottingham were able to interject with moments of magic to grab two more tries in the first forty.

Harry Sheppard though grabbed a crucial score before the break, bashing over from short range to give the home crowd hope going into the second half.

Despite this a quick score after the break from Nottingham skipping round the ruck put the game to bed. The Exiles controlled much of the second forty but once again could not turn the pressure into points.

Nottingham would end 26-7 winners on the night and march on with two 5 point wins to start the season, whilst the Exiles look ahead to Cambridge next week to ignite their season on week 3.
