The game began with some excellent pressure from Scottish, holding the opposition in their own half for the first 5 minutes of the game. The pressure led to the boys gaining a lineout for Scottish. Clean catch off the top led to the backs creating a try on the right wing for Arun coming in from full back. With the conversion unsuccessful, it was back to the game.
More excellent defence from Scottish resulted in two more tries (one from Glenn and a second from Arun), both converted, meant the boys had built up a nice 19-0 lead over Chess valley. After this period of dominance, Chess valley seem to pull it back and the boys lost their momentum.
It was Chess valley who scored the next three tries in quick succession. All were converted meaning Chess valley took the lead with the score being 19-21. But Scottish came back with a masterful break up the middle resulting in a try under the sticks for Max, who converted his own score.
Halftime, with the score 26-21 it was anyone’s game.
After the break Gabriel scored a blinder with a well executed move from the backs putting him through on the right wing. Max made the conversion to take Scottish to a 12 point lead. Chess Valley forced their way back into it with two unconverted scores to leave Scottish with a slender 2 point lead. All set for a nail-biting finish. However the boys dug deep, and put the pressure on again and were able to close it out with a strong run up the middle and score from Joe to end the game.
Final score 38-31 and a hard fought Victory for London Scottish.
Congratulations guys, and we look forward to the next game.
