The game began with intensity as both sides effectively defended their opposition keeping play at the halfway line for the first ten minutes of the game. However Scottish eventually built some fierce and intelligent attacking play that carved up the Finchley defence. This began a period of dominance for Scottish that lasted for the majority of the first half, yet this period disappointingly resulted in only an 8-0 lead ( try for Max & Penalty for Ted ). Scottish were managing to hold the opposition in their own 22′ until they finally gave way in the final play of the first half, as Finchley managed to drive up the field and push over for a try after what seemed like an age of powerful try line defence from Scottish.

Halftime: London Scottish 8-7 Finchley

Unfortunately Scottish seemed to drop their heads after the demoralising concession of that last minute try before the half, as result Finchley managed to pull away with three tries in rapid succession; the score was now SCO 8-24 FIN and a response from Scottish was looking unlikely. The boys didn’t lose heart though, they fought on and their efforts made the final 15-20 minutes a complete stalemate with tensions boiling over into a couple of scuffles and clear examples of frustration from many Finchley players. The boys closed out the game strong however didn’t manage to score again.
