London Scottish run in eight tries under the Friday night lights at the Athletic Ground, to beat Yorkshire Carnegie 50-7.
Matt Eliet went over to score a hat-trick, with captain Lewis Wynne, Matas Jurevius, Jonny Harris, Luke Hibberd and Rob Stevenson all going over the whitewash.
Yorkshire’s only try scorer was number 8 Henry Lavin, his try being converted by Joseph Carlisle.

We only had to wait three minutes until the first try was scored by captain Wynne. The Exiles went through fifteen phases of play with the forwards moving the ball from the right-hand side of the field out to the left before Wynne eventually went over to score. Fly-half Harry Sheppard failed to add the extras. London Scottish 5-0 Yorkshire Carnegie.
The home side’s second try came from a charge down by Jurevicius 22 metres out. The youngster gathered the ball to go over and score his first try in a Scottish shirt . Sheppard landed the conversion. London Scottish 12-0 Yorkshire Carnegie.
Scottish suffered an early replacement when Alex Toolis limped off with a knee problem.
With 22 minutes on the clock Eliet went over to score his first try off the game after the forwards went through the phases yet again. Sheppard landed the conversion. London Scottish 19-0 Yorkshire Carnegie.
Eliet’s second try came only three minutes later. Scottish were awarded a penalty after a high tackle from a Yorkshire player. Sheppard’s kick brought the men in navy and red all the way up into their opponents 22. The forwards ended up punching a hole through the Yorkshire defence on the far-left hand side of the uprights. The conversion by Sheppard brought the scores up to London Scottish 26-0 Yorkshire Carnegie.
Harris ran in the Scots’ fifth of the evening with five minutes left until the half time whistle. Sheppard’s conversion brought the scorers to 33-0 at half time.
With only two minutes gone in the second half Eliet went over to score his third of the evening. Sheppard’s superb offload setting up the try. He was unable to land the conversion though, London Scottish 38-0 Yorkshire Carnegie.
Yorkshire capitalised on a period of poor discipline from the Exiles to score their only try through Lavin. Carlisle added the extras, London Scottish 33-7 Yorkshire Carnegie.
Hibberd went over to score his second in a Scottish shirt, the full back skirting around several Yorkshire defenders. The conversion by Sheppard brought the scorers to 45-7 with 23 minutes remaining.
Having recovered from a bout of food poisoning, Stevenson went over to score in his birthday week to bring the scores to 50-7 at the final whistle.
