Championship XV head coach Martin Haag has welcomed the addition of Max Maidment and Jonny Arr (Worcester Warriors) to the squad ahead of Sunday’s fixture against Canada at Sixways, kick-off 3.15pm.
Prop Maidment joined London Scottish ahead of the current season, transferring from fellow Championship side Cornish Pirates.
Having been coached under the stewardship of Danny Grewcock during his Academy years at Bath Rugby, the 23-year-old was selected to represent England Students and captained Bath University.
Commenting on his selection, Max said: “I am delighted to have been selected for the Championship XV squad.
“When London Scottish head coach James Buckland told me over the weekend I thought he was joking, but once it was confirmed I was thrilled!
“It will be great teaming up with some of my former teammates at Cornish Pirates again and hopefully the squad can gel quickly and push for the win over Canada.”
Also joining Max in the Championship XV is Worcester centurion Jonny Arr.
The scrum-half has featured in more fixtures for his club than any other player, picking up two consecutive club awards including Player of the Year.
“I am delighted to be called-up to the Championship XV squad” said the 26-year-old. “I am looking forward to joining up with the rest of the lads later this week.
“There are a lot of talented players in this Championship side and we will need to find our feet quickly as Canada will see this as preparation for next year’s Rugby World Cup.
“With the game being played at Sixways, it will be extra special for me and hopefully we’ll see lots of Worcester fans cheering us on.”
