London Scottish celebrated the upcoming Rugby World Cup by hosting an event at the Athletic Ground, which gave supporters the opportunity to see the trophy and hear from ex-professionals about what it’s like to feature in rugby’s biggest tournament.
A touch tournament took place between 18:00 and 20:00, which was won by the London Scottish Red Lions to the delight of the Members Bar when the result was announced.
The Webb Ellis Cup was there from 20:00 to 22:00, with hundreds of fans getting their pictures taken with the trophy.
There was also a Q&A with Head Coach Peter Richards, Forwards Coach Tim Payne and ex-Scotland international Al McHarg.
Richards featured in the 2007 Rugby World Cup Final for England against South Africa, whilst Tim Payne earned 22 caps for England and was in the squad for the 2009 British and Irish Lions Tour.
A video was shown throughout the evening featuring some highlights from the previous season at Scottish, as well as highlighting some of the most famous players to pull on the London Scottish shirt who have featured in the World Cup. The video can be found below:
