Bath Rugby flanker Paul Grant and England Sevens flyer Ben Harris have both been named in the London Scottish squad ahead of this weekend’s game against Jersey Reds.
Grant has come in on loan from Bath Rugby and comes straight into the matchday 22 after helping Bath to a 52-0 win in the Premiership Cup over local rivals Gloucester on Monday night.
The back rower, originally from New Zealand, has been with Bath since 2016 having previously played for Montpellier, Nottingham and New Zealand provincial side Otago. Scottish will be hoping the flanker, who can also play in the second row, will bring some added firepower this weekend.
Young winger Ben Harris comes into the London Scottish squad for the first time having trained with London Scottish over the last few weeks. Harris is part of Simor Amor’s 2018/19 England 7s squad with the likes of Dan Norton and Dan Bibby.
The former Maidenhead RFC player has been involved with England Sevens over the summer when he was selected for their European Grand Prix tournaments and he will be hoping he can find some open space in the wider channels against the Reds to show his speed.
Director of Rugby Dave Morris was thankful to welcome two more quality players to the Scottish matchday squad. “It is great to have two players of the calibre of Paul and Ben in our squad for the Jersey game. I must thank Bath for allowing Paul to come down on loan. It has also been great to have Ben training with us over the last couple of weeks whilst England Sevens have been away competing in New Zealand and Australia, he has fully taken his opportunity. This epitomises the good relationship we have with England Sevens who also train at The Lensbury.”
