Scots name side for clash with play-off rivals

10th April 2015

Coach Peter Richards admits the opportunity to secure London Scottish a top four finish in front of the home support tomorrow is something his side will relish.

The Scots can seal a maiden appearance in the Greene King IPA Championship play-offs with victory over Nottingham Rugby on Saturday, April 11, 3pm kick-off.

Nottingham sit fourth in the Championship, nine points behind third placed Scottish, and will provide a stern test for the Exiles who have lost just twice at home in the league all season.

Richards said: “Take it back 10 months and if you had said we would have a home game with three rounds to go to secure our place in the play-offs, we would have taken that.

“We always knew this game would be of great importance for both us and Nottingham.

“You can’t hide behind what it means. Win and we are in the play-offs.

“The players know that and they will be trying everything in their power to make that happen.”

He continued: “We have had a good look at Nottingham over the past couple of weeks and we are well prepared.

“We have enjoyed great home form this year but will have to be at our best because Nottingham have been in good form themselves recently.

“They are really hungry to get into the play-offs as well.

“The sun has been out all week and hopefully we are in line for a great game.”

The Scots make four changes to their starting XV from the side which lost at Worcester Warriors last month.

In the back division Matt Hawke and Jamie Stevenson return whilst Chris Walker and Club captain Adam Kwasnicki also earn recalls which provides further experience in the pack.

Mark Lilley will act as back-up hooker with David Cherry out injured and he is joined on the bench by prop D'arcy Rae who signed on loan from Glasgow Warriors earlier this week.

Richards added: “Tim Payne was happy with how D'arcy went in training.

“It's a bit of a baptism of fire for him but he is obviously a quality operator and I look forward to seeing how he goes.”
