London Scottish have named their team to face Ospreys Premiership Select in the British and Irish Cup on Saturday afternoon.

The Scots will need to record a win to have any chance of qualifying in Pool Three, before they head to Ireland to face Munster ‘A’ next weekend in the final group stage match.

Jack Cosgrove, Tyrone Moran and Geoff Cross start in the front-row, with the familiar pair of Rory Bartle and Will Carrick Smith in the second-row.

The back-row features one change from the New Year’s Day defeat to Bedford Blues, with Alex Brown joining Chris Walker and Freddie Clarke, who will captain the side.

Matt Heeks and Dan Newton start as scrum-half and fly-half, with Scottish pair Craig Jackson and Robbie Fergusson in the centre. In the back-three Rory Hughes starts on the left wing with Nathan Earle on the right wing, and Peter Lydon at full-back.

Adam Kwasnicki, James Hallam, and Jimmy Litchfield offer front-row support on the bench. Kieran Treadwell takes his place as a substitute as back-up to the second row, with Mark Bright covering the back-row. Ben Calder will look to feature at scrum-half, and Andrew Turner will also hope to make an impact from the bench.

Full-back Peter Lydon says that the Scots are looking to use the remaining B&I Cup games to return to some much-needed form.

“Hopefully the British and Irish Cup will provide a chance to get some wins albeit against two strong teams in Ospreys and Munster, before we go back to the league with a massive game v Yorkshire at the end of January.” Said the 23-year-old.

He added: ”Our main work ons will have to be our discipline which is costing us dearly as well as game management and first half performances which have been unacceptable.”
