Scots name youthful side to welcome Cardiff Blues in British and Irish Cup climax

London Scottish have named their starting line up for tomorrow night’s British and Irish Cup round six fixture against Cardiff Blues Premiership Select at the Athletic Ground.

The match was originally scheduled to take place in January but a frozen pitch meant that it had to be postponed.

Head Coach Peter Richards has rung the changes for the Scots following a tricky run of results with 10 changes to the starting line-up, and he has brought in a number of players who will be looking to prove themselves with just five fixtures left in the 2016/17 season.

Grant Shiells, Dan Koroi and Phil Cringle start in the front-row, with captain Rory Bartle and Dom McGeekie in the second-row. Alec Coombes, Joe Atkinson and Matt Marley will operate in an athletic looking back-row.

Scrum-half Aaron Booth will make his London Scottish debut after impressing for the Highlanders, alongside George Cullen at fly-half.

Tom Galbraith partners another debutant Connor Hayhow in the centre, with a pacy back-three of Ben Rath, Matt Williams and Craig Holland.

Five Highlanders take their place on the bench, with Dean Brooker, Alex Watts and George Shannon offering a front-row alternative and Angus Adamson covering the rest of the pack.

Josh Barton provides scrum-half back-up, whilst Jamie Urquart and Peter Lydon complete the match day squad.

Ross Doneghan, Head Coach of the London Scottish Academy is thrilled to see the Highlanders getting the opportunity to prove themselves in the first team.

“Friday night gives our young guns a chance to showcase their talents and show the fans that they are the stars of tomorrow for London Scottish.”

He added: “It’s a huge step forward in linking our academy with the professional team. We are one club and Peter's inclusion of these players symbolises that superbly.”

We encourage fans to come and enjoy the London Scottish experience on the eve of one of the biggest fixtures in the rugby calendar, making it a double header of rugby on the Calcutta Cup weekend!

For this match we are offering all tickets for just £10, and £8 if booked online in advance. Seating will be unreserved with a ticket allowing entry anywhere in the stand, giving fans the chance to watch from the best seats in the Athletic Ground.
