London Scottish is pleased to confirm the signing of prop Jimmy Litchfield from London Welsh.

The-23-year-old came through the ranks at Hartpury as a teenager, playing a key role in their memorable 2013/14 season which saw Hartpury achieve promotion to SSE National League One and win the BUCS Championship at Twickenham.

During his time studying in Gloucestershire, Litchfield also played for Gloucester United in the Aviva Premiership A League before signing for London Welsh ahead of last season’s Premiership campaign.

Litchfield, who joined up with his new teammates this week for the start of pre-season, said: “I’m naturally thrilled to have signed for a club like London Scottish.

“Results spoke for themselves last season with Scottish doing fantastically well.

“Hopefully it’s something we can replicate again this season.”

He continued: “Last year was a tough season for London Welsh.

“Playing in the Premiership can be an unforgiving place but I took a huge amount of positives away from being in a top flight environment which will stand me in good stead for the rest of my career.

“I’m still quite young for a prop and I’ll relish being coached by Tim Payne who played at the highest level for many years.”

London Scottish forwards coach Tim Payne added: “Jimmy is a strong scrummager which is absolutely key when playing in the Greene King IPA Championship.

“He’s also useful around the park and in the loose and I genuinely think Jimmy is a player who can really develop his game at London Scottish over the next 12 months.”
