London Scottish are very pleased to confirm the arrival of Australian Centre Matt Gordon ahead of next season.

Gordon will make the switch from Queensland, Australia for Richmond next season as he becomes the fourth new arrival ahead of the next Greene King IPA Championship campaign.

The 24 year old, 105 kilogram centre will be sure to add some much needed firepower to the Scottish midfield next season and is an English Qualified Player through his grandfather being born in England.

Gordon represented Queensland Country in the National Rugby Championship (NRC) from 2015 – 2018 before making the switch to Brisbane City last year where he played alongside Wallabies Quade Cooper and Karmichael Hunt. He is currently playing Queensland Premier Rugby with Easts Tigers and has been a dominant force in the league for multiple seasons.

The former Ipswich Grammar School student is looking forward to challenging himself in England’s second tier next season.

“I’m massively looking forward to joining up with London Scottish for the 2019/20 season. Its’s a club steeped in tradition and I was impressed with Graham Steadman and Dave Morris both as people as well as their vision and ambition. I’ve always wanted to challenge myself in Rugby and playing in the Championship excites me. I have aspirations in the game and I can’t wait to get started.”

Director of Rugby Dave Morris was thrilled to add Gordon to the Scottish squad next season.

“We are very pleased to have added Matt Gordon ahead of next season. He arrives at The Athletic Ground with an impressive pedigree after playing four seasons in Australia’s NRC competition and will be looking to bring that dominance to the Championship. He is a big physical specimen who will give us some real go forward next season and will add an edge to an exciting backline for the 2019/20 season.”
