As the rains had dissipated at up at Castle Park, London Scottish and Doncaster took to the field in what should have been near perfect conditions for attacking rugby. However, it was the defences that would come out on top as only twelve points was shared between the two sides.

London Scottish were under the pump for much of the opening salvo of the game with Doncaster banging on the Scottish line. Throughout the game the Exiles defended admirably and shut out the big northern pack on multiple occasions on their own line.

Eventually Scottish managed to build some field position and Sam Riley was able to flop over at the back of a driving maul in the corner to take the score to 5-0. Scottish would squander a couple more chances in the first half to extend the lead as Doncaster’s defence as also up to the task.

At the end of the first half, Scottish found themselves camped on their own line defending another Knight’s onslaught. A scrum in the corner went the way of the Exiles winning a penalty with the clock in the red to close out the half.

That moment proved to be crucial as the Exiles came out firing after the break. An excellent break down the right hand side from Roma Zheng on debut allowed him to link up with Sean Kerr for the try. An excellent conversion from Alec Lloyd-Seed extended the lead for the away side and left Doncaster chasing the game.

Although the Knights through everything at London Scottish for the remainder of the second half, they were unable to break down the tartan wall. Incredible interventions at key times from the likes of Zach Carr, Jonny Law and Will Hobson stopped near certain tries at points.

This lead to a 12-0 victory on the road for London Scottish, a famous win that’s not been seen for a while up in Doncaster. A real marker for the season as Scottish pick up their second win of the year and begin to look up the table and what can be achieved for the campaign.

London Scottish take on Nottingham this Friday night. A great opportunity to see if they can make it three from three. You can get your tickets here.
