Towering 6ft 7’ second row Byron Hodge will join Scottish from Rotherham Titans for the upcoming 2018/19 season and has already linked up with the squad for pre season.

Hodge is another former Titan who, new Head Coach, Nic Rouse knows very well from their time in Rotherham and they worked closely together around set piece and the development of Hodge’s game.

The stats speak for themselves with Australian Hodge, standing at six feet seven inches and weighing in over 115 kilograms, Hodge is a physical specimen and will add significant size to Scottish’s second row.

Byron formerly played for one of Australia’s premier club sides in Sydney, Sydney University, a club which has produced countless Wallabies like Bernard Foley, Will Skelton and Jake Gordon. The game style over in Sydney is similar to the style Scottish will be looking to play this year so Hodge will be comfortable with the high tempo.

The former Sydney Stars representative and ex-Bedford Blue was happy to be joining the Exiles. “I am absolutely thrilled to be part of the very competitive squad that Dave [Morris] and Nic have put together. The prospect of developing under Nic for a second year is a very exciting one and to do so at the club’s world class facilities is a huge bonus. The foundations are in place for the squad to build something special this season and I look forward to making some great memories along the way.”

The 26 year old will be competing with Tjiuee Uanivi and new arrivals from Loughborough University Luke Frost and Theo Vukasinovic for the starting shirt when the season rolls round in September.

Head Coach Nic Rouse was happy to add the Australian to his squad and was excited about getting him in for pre season and working with him again after their time together at Rotherham. “It’s a pleasure to welcome Byron to London Scottish, he is a model professional and will help drive standards for the squad. Having had the opportunity to work with him last season he will bring a massive work rate and physicality to our pack.”
