London Scottish travelled to the home of Worcester Warriors on a Friday night knowing they were going to be up against it. A full time opposition who were unbeaten at home so far this season and a side recently returned from the ashes keen to put on a show in front of a home crowd.
Worcester came out of the blocks incredibly fast in front of a bumper home crowd, five tries in the first half stunned the Exiles as they raced into a 35 point lead.
Worcester came with the intention to play at every opportunity and were very accurate when they did so. London Scottish, however, gave up possession all too regularly and in exposed positions allowing their opposition to break away on too many occasions.
Just before the break Scottish were able to hit back as Robbie McCallum broke up the left hand side and put away Noah Ferdinand for his first try of the season to give his side hope.
Scottish continued where they left off in the second half. However, they were unable to make the most of our their opportunities and sustain pressure for a prolonged periods.
Two tries to the Exiles in the second half matched two from the Warriors. Scottish had chances to convert a fourth opportunity in the game and come away with the bonus point but Worcester’s defence remained resolute.
Scottish now look ahead to a visit from Bedford on Friday night at the RAG. A reaction needed as they look to rally their season after five rounds.
