Scottish head back to the RAG defeated by Bedford Blues but a crucial bonus point richer in their bid to survive in the Champ. A last minute maul penalty try got the Exiles their fourth try on a night of free flowing rugby but one ultimately controlled by Bedford.
The first 20 minutes was all the Blues, scoring with seemingly free will, four tries racked up in a quarter of rugby and the bonus point secured.
Scottish then fought back and fought back hard. A beautiful Tom Wilstead chip was collected by Noah Ferdinand who raced in for the score.
Then Theo Vukasinovic flopped over from short range for a second score. It looked heading into half time that Scottish could be in for a third to go within a score of their opponents, however, a breakaway score from the Blues put pay to those plans.
Bedford would continue their dominance after the break with two quick tries in the second half, but this once again sparked Scottish into life.
Finding some change out of the maul they worked their way up field for Matt Wilkinson to crash over from short range.
Scottish then set their sights on the bonus point try and with the clock in the red and down to 14 men, all 14 went into the maul in the Bedford 22 and secured the penalty try, with it the bonus point.
Still not the result and the performance wanted from the Exiles, but a lot of fight and a big step forward going into the final round of this block against Chinnor!
