Strength & Conditioning Volunteer Placement

REMIT: 

To support the senior staff of the Performance Department in the day-to-day tasks required to deliver an effective training environment. 

To develop the skills and behaviours required to pursue a career in Strength and Conditioning. 

Provide support to the daily training environment including: 

  • Organising any setting up equipment for various gym and field-based sessions. 
  • Maintaining the upkeep and general tidiness of the gym and training environment. 
  • Organising and administering the nutritional requirements for the squad as directed by the Nutritionist and Head of S&C. 
  • Assist with delivery of warm ups and strength and conditioning sessions both gym and pitch-based. 
  • Carry out any other tasks or projects as directed by the S&C department. 
  • Help out any testing/diagnostics as directed by members of the S&C department. 

ESSENTIAL CHARACTERISTICS: 

  • Eagerness to learn and develop as an individual and practitioner. 
  • Pro-active approach to personal development. 
  • Enrolled on at least BSc or equivalent in Strength & Conditioning/Sport & Exercise Science 
  • Previous experience leading and delivering both pitch based and gym-based sessions for whole squads, small groups, and individuals. 
  • Effective and appropriate communication/relationship building skills. 
  • Understanding of fundamental training principles 
  • Effective computer skills (Excel, Power-point, One Drive etc). 

DESIRABLE REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Emergency First Aid 
  • Experience of using GPS, Timing Gates, Force Plates etc 
  • Previous experience of elite/professional training environments. 

OTHER DETAILS: 

Duration: June 2022 to September 2022 

Hours: Variable, falling in line with weekly training schedule (Monday, Tuesday and Thursday evenings, Saturday day time) 

Salary: Voluntary 

Reports to: Head of Strength & Conditioning 

Location: Richmond Athletic Ground/ Training base (will be within southwest London area)
