Team News: Scottish to take on the RAF tomorrow night

20th February 2018

Tomorrow night, London Scottish will be taking on the RAF at our training base Imber Court. Entry is FREE. KO @ 7.30pm

A strong side has been selected by Scottish with many of the players in the starting lineup boasting numerous Championship appearances. The squad has also been bolstered by the inclusion of seven players from the Army.

London Scottish are building a very good relationship with the Army after having three of their players as part of the 1st XV set up this season. Pete Austin, Gareth Smith and Owain Davies have all combined their Forces responsibilities with training with the squad and they will all start tomorrow evening.

It is also of note that three consistent top performers from the Highlanders this season will also get an opportunity to show their talents. Back rower Miles Wakeling starts after being a standout player this season for the Highlanders. George Shannon and Tom Wooton are also rewarded for their good performances with spots on the bench.

The front row consists of three contracted London Scottish players and two of the Army contingent who have been with the squad all year. Ben Onyeama Chrsitie starts along with Gareth Smith as the prop forwards and Pete Austin starts at hooker. Austin is also named at Vice Captain for the game.

Both second rowers are players who have been drafted in for the game. Saracens academy lock Danny Cutmore will partner Kris Smith, one of the seven Army players who will join up with the squad for tomorrow’s game.

Highlanders starlet Miles Wakeling starts on the blindside with Max Berry at Number Eight. Army flanker Sonoma Veikune starts on the openside.

Josh Barton and Basil Strang is the half back combination. Fraser Lyle captains the side after missing out on selection for the Bristol Rugby game on the weekend. Experienced operator Lyle will captain the side and is partnered by destructive Army centre John Davetanivalu.

Owain Davies starts at full back and is joined in the back three by Connor Hayhow and another Army player to join up with the Scots, Craig Edwards.

Kick off is 7.30pm. The game will be held at Imber Court. Directions can be found HERE. The Bar will be open before and after the game with food available to purchase. Entry to watch the game will be free
