The Incredible Journey continues

17th April 2015
admin

The fantastic win over Nottingham Rugby on April 11 not only sealed London Scottish’s place in the end of season play-offs with two rounds of the regular season to go but also continued the Club’s meteoric rise up the English leagues.

– The Incredible Journey began in 1999, when London Scottish were demoted eight divisions to Herts-Middlesex 1. Since then, the quite remarkable sequence of always finishing higher, in terms of league position, than the previous year has continued.

– During this period, the Club secured seven promotions in 11 seasons, earning promotion back into English rugby's second tier, courtesy of a last gasp victory over Barking in the final seconds of the 2010/11 season.

– Scottish will finish the regular 2014/15 Greene King IPA Championship season in third position, meaning they are currently the 15th best team in England.

– Last season Exiles winger Miles Mantella was the Championship's leading try scorer crossing the try line 19 times. During the current campaign, London Scottish skipper Mark Bright, sponsored by Aberdeen Asset Management, has already smashed the all-time Championship try scoring record for a single season. Bright has scored an astonishing 24 tries from number eight, including back-to-back hat-tricks in September.  With third place in the Greene King IPA Championship confirmed, next month London Scottish will take on either Bristol Rugby or Worcester Warriors in a two legged semi-final.

Bristol and Worcester play each other in the final round of the regular season on Saturday, April 25, which will likely determine the Club's semi-final opponents.
