Full-back Jim Thompson will return to the Scotland 7s squad this weekend as they travel to Lyon for a Rugby World Cup 7s warm-up tournament.
Thompson was an ever-present in the RFU Championship last season, playing all 22 games and scoring three tries. He also made 3 appearances in the B&I Cup, scoring 2 tries.
Scotland 7s Head Coach Stephen Gemmell: “Jim is someone who has been involved before and we’re delighted that London Scottish have released him to help our preparations.”
Scotland 7s will play France (11.06am), Germany (12.54pm), Portugal (4.10pm) and Italy (5.58pm) on Saturday (8 June), day one of the FIRA-AER event. They will then conclude their group campaign against Russia at 11.06am on Sunday (9 June) before moving into the knock-out stages. All times are local, so one hour ahead of BST.
Gemmell continued: “There are a number of teams in our group that we know well, France, Portugal and Russia and who we’ve played a number of times this season. Then you add in Italy and Germany who we played last year. It’ll be a tough group.
