Under-13s off to winning start

The Under 13s opened their first competitive match with a seven try victory, beating a weakened Hertford B side by 39-5.

On a very hot day the team put into practice the lessons from the training ground showing commitment in their tackling and rucking accompanied by good support play.  The pace of the game slackened in the second half and the contest was more even.

Hertford started the first period of the match with 14 men which allowed London Scottish to play most of the game in Hertford's half.

The first try came from a good individual break by Charlie after he was given some space.  Cameron added the conversion.

There was good handling with the ball reaching the extremities of the pitch and with strong straight running from Marcel and Jacob three more tries were added.

Cameron worked well organising the midfield and made ground with his trademark direct runs, resulting in a try later in the half.

The forwards were solid in the first half and after a slow start were rucking, protecting the ball and occasionally overturning the opposition's possession.

Alec showed some impressive running, gaining valuable yards each time.

A number of substitutions were made at half-time and shortly afterwards, allowing all players to get some game time.

It was a more closely contested second half with two tries from Cameron, one coming from a turnover ball.

Hertford did not drop their heads and were rewarded with a try from a penalty given in their own 22.

By the end of the game all were exhausted by the heat and the level of effort that had been expended.

Other notable mentions go to Rocco who served well behind the scrum, Thomas, who kept on going and Konrad with his committed rucking.
