As we enter the final six games of the season we have four more games at the RAG to feast one. We caught up with Head Coach Joe Gray as he previewed the final run in and this week’s visit of Coventry.

“Last weekend was always going to be a tough one and a game where we were always going to struggle. Having said that, there were things we simply weren’t happy with, we need more desire in fight in defence, at times we made it easy for Ealing and let them get soft points which we weren’t happy with.
However, we also competed really well at the set piece and gave ourselves more than enough opportunity to score four tries. It’s disappointing not to come away with a point from that game but we have to look forward at this weekend’s challenge.”

“Coventry have been on a great run of form so we have to step up again this week to compete. They play a fast but physical game and have been scoring at will recently. As a result, our defence needs to step up and we need to match them physically.
If we do that and cause them problem whilst they’ve got the ball, I know our attack has got more than enough to trouble them.”
Speaking of his team this weekend Joe was quick to point out a few names who have impressed.
“James (Fallon) and Oli (Duncan) both made their debuts last weekend, young James coming in from Hartpury on loan and Oli down from Scotland. Both are great young talents and I was really impressed with the way they go stuck in with limited training time and knowledge of our system.
We are hoping to see a lot more of them over the next few weeks but I’m really impressed with the way they have started their London Scottish journey off.”

Looking at Coventry, they are a side that have the most amount of offloads of any side the in the league and the most amount of dominant carries. As a result, it’s clear they look to use their dominant runners to bust holes and then play in behind teams.
Scottish will have to be immensely physical to stand up to the challenge, if they do that then they can impart their game onto Coventry and hopefully have some success.
