Andy Irvine Q&A to be part of charity event at London Scottish

09th May 2017

The Rugby Foundation have launched a testimonial match in the company of legendary Lion Andy Irvine at the Athletic Ground on Saturday 27th May.

Five years since the tragic passing of St Andrews University rugby captain Steven Sims aged just 23, friends and family have reunited to launch a brand new charity in his name.

The Steven Sims Cavaliers Foundation exists to tackle concussion in the grassroots rugby community across Scotland and seek to ensure boys and girls can continue to play the sport safely.

To launch their campaign, the Cavaliers will host a charity match in celebration of Steven’s life on Saturday 27 May.

A select XV of Edinburgh’s Stewarts Melville School Alumni face the University of St Andrews Alumni XV at the home of London Scottish, and the crowd will then be joined by Lions top points scorer Andy Irvine for a special Q&A hosted by the voices behind Scottish podcast, the Thistle Rugby Podcast.

Irvine earned 51 Scotland caps between 1972 and 1982 and went on three Lions tours as a player between 1974 and 1980.

Schedule for the day:

12:00 pm London Scottish Clubhouse at the RAA Opens
