A very significant milestone for London Scottish was achieved on Sunday when the first ever London Scottish Lions Colts team took the field to play against Camberley RFC Colts. It was also the first Colts team to play under a London Scottish emblem since before Covid.
It was a typically cold January winters afternoon at Watchetts Recreational Ground in Camberley for the first outing of the season for the London Scottish Lions Colts against Camberley RFC Colts. The game was well contested and both teams were evenly matched. This was reflected in the try count with each teams scoring three tries. However, Camberley were able to convert all three and eventually won the game 21-15.
This was the first competitive game of the season for the newly re-formed London Scottish Lions Colts with many of the team playing together for the first time. The team showed a lot of courage in a well organised defence, keeping a well drilled Camberley from crossing the try line on multiple occasions. The young Lions also put together a lot of phases and flair in attack, and at times, looked like a team that had played several games together. The London Scottish forwards were dominant in the set piece which was the launch pad for all three Scottish tries. The players were a credit to themselves and the club showing a lot of fight over the full 70-minutes but in the end, it was probably our lack of game time together that was the deciding factor at the final whistle.
A special mention goes out to all the parents that helped organise lifts for players to the game and their vocal support from the sideline. And finally, this club milestone would not have been possible without the fantastic support from the Velocity Trade team and their sponsorship.
Next Sunday is our first Home vs. Rosslyn Park 2pm KO at Kings House Sports Ground.
