Dave Cherry has encouraged his fellow players to take the positives from the 37-13 defeat to table-toppers Bristol on Friday night.
The scoreline didn’t give a true reflection of what was an impressive performance from the Scots, who trailed just 16-13 with just over 20 minutes left.
Cherry said that the squad were looking to restrict Bristol, which is what they did successfully until the final quarter of the match.
“We knew going into the game that nullifying the threat of the Bristol forwards would be key, and that was something that we managed to do for the majority of the game.” Said the hooker.
He added: “We showed good attacking threat both off first phase ball and turn over ball however not frequently enough were the opportunities converted into points.”
The Scottish age group international admitted that the Scots need to put together a complete 80 minute performance as they look to return to winning ways in the Greene King IPA Championship.
“Getting ourselves to within three points with 20 minutes to go showed great character but individual errors and forced offloads cost us possession and ultimately points.”
The Scots now face Rotherham Titans at the Athletic Ground next Saturday, 5th December at 15:00 in the first of three home matches in the month of December.
Cherry says that the match against the Titans is one that Scottish are targeting to get a first Championship win since October.
“We can take the positives and look towards Rotherham next Saturday at the Athletic Ground as a game that we will be looking to win in front of our own fans.”
