London Scottish have become one of the latest clubs to start the Bill McLaren Positive Coaching Scotland (PCS) accreditation programme.

Clubs identify with the Scottish Rugby initiative in order to help focus on the club’s identity, coaching and core values, building a community within the club and ultimately attracting more people to the game.

London Scottish are the first club out with Scotland to take steps in striving for PCS accreditation.

London Scottish CEO Kenny Baillie, said: “London Scottish is proud and honoured to participate in the Positive Coaching Scotland programme.

“We firmly believe in the core values of rugby union and the benefits they can bring to everyone at our club.

“We also believe that developing a culture of positive coaching across all sections of the club from the minis right up to the 1XV will help everyone enjoy being a part of London Scottish, which we hope will help the club grow on and off the pitch.”

Scottish Rugby’s Positive Coaching Scotland manager Bosman du Plessis, has visited the club to facilitate the initial work through a leadership workshop.

London Scottish Development and Academy manager Corne du Rand, said: “Building on our working relationships across all levels to grow the quality of the game in our club, we feel the Positive Coaching Scotland programme, in association with the Bill McLaren Foundation, will enable us to do so.

“Representatives from all areas of the club were in attendance at the first workshop and the feeling surrounding the event was really encouraging.

“We are looking forward to roll out the rest of the programme and reap the benefits it will bring.”
