London Scottish can today announce the signing of Canadian international Evan Olmstead for the rest of the season.

The second-row joins the Scots from the Parramatta Two Blues in Australia and has seven caps for Canada.

Olmstead featured in two of the pool stage matches in the 2015 Rugby World Cup and will add considerable bulk to the forward pack, looking to feature in the second-row alongside the likes of Josh Thomas Brown, Will Carrick Smith, Neale Patrick and Rory Bartle.

The 24-year-old said: “I'm very excited to join the team and look to make my mark on the rest of the season. I’m grateful for the opportunity to kick on from the success I had in 2015 and play in a competition as well regarded as the Championship with a club that has such as rich history like London Scottish.”

He added: “It’s a great time to join the club with Peter Richards and Tim Payne in coaching roles, I’ll be looking to soak up some of their knowledge as well as the partnership with the SRU with Sean Lineen and Roddy Grant which should really help with the rest of the season.”

Olmstead will begin training this week after attending the win over Yorkshire Carnegie at the weekend, and will be looking to make his debut in the Exile Derby against London Welsh at Old Deer Park next Saturday afternoon.
