London Scottish can today confirm the signing of Grant Shiells from Edinburgh Rugby.

The loosehead prop will add significant experience to the pack as the squad continues to take shape for the 16/17 season.

The Scot played for Edinburgh last season in the Pro12 and European Challenge Cup, and has also had stints at Bath Rugby and Newcastle Falcons, where he made over 90 appearances in the top flight.

The 26-year-old has represented Scotland at age group level, with four caps for the U20’s, and one for the Scotland A team.

Shiells is looking forward to the next chapter in his career at the Athletic Ground. “I’m really excited about moving down to London Scottish and settling in with the squad.”

He added: “I see it as a great opportunity to play some exciting rugby in a very competitive league.”

Head Coach Peter Richards is sure that Shiells is the right player to bolster the scrum ahead of the new campaign.

“Grant is exactly the kind of player that we are looking for and will bring with him a great reputation and plenty of experience across the top leagues in British rugby.

Our squad is getting stronger and we have some exciting players joining us so there is plenty to be optimistic about for all supporters of London Scottish.”
