Hard fought win in Portsmouth over the Royal Navy for Rampant Lions

03rd November 2016

The senior academy made it two wins out of two so far for the season in the clash against the Royal Navy Under 23’s in Portsmouth.

The Royal Navy U23s with their big pack of forwards and much improved game took it to the Rampant Lions from the start but the Scots held firm!

The dogged defence and team resilience showed by the Scots gave the visitors a narrow 10-14 lead at the break.

A penalty goal stretched the academy’s lead and with a handful of minutes left, another period of good defence set up a opportunity for some individual brilliance and the ball was intercepted on the Scots 22m for a great moment in the game to stretch the lead to 10-24.

The Navy came back after the Scots turned the ball over and managed a late try for the final score of 17-24 in favour of the academy.
