In Memory of Sam Griffiths

01st January 2009
admin

It is with great sadness that we learn of the death of 16 year old Sam Griffiths of the Under 17’s team. Sam tragically died in the early hours of New Year’s Day after accidentally falling on the electrified railway line at Burgess Hill Station.

Sam was a lovely young man, full of life and a great friend to all. He was a great team member who only last month took part in our fancy dress match to help raise funds for our French tour later this year. Sam was a talented rugby player and has been playing at Scottish for many years and will be greatly missed by his team mates and all who knew him. Above all, however, he will be remembered for the way in which he communicated his infectious enthusiasm and love of life to all those he met.

Funeral arrangements –

The funeral is this Friday ( 9th January) at 11.30 am at St. Michael’s Church, beside Turnham Green Tube Station, Chiswick W4 (intersection with Bath Road) This is to be an open funeral and his family are keen that anyone from his wide life is made welcome. Rugby strips will be very very welcome! Everyone from the London Scottish rugby community is especially welcome to attend.

After the funeral, the cortege will go to Mortlake Crematorium and then back to Sam’s home in Chiswick – 128 Rustall Avenue, W4. Again, everyone is welcome.

No flowers or wreaths please, but a donation to the Wooden Spoon Society would be most welcome by the family. Thanks
