Full back Joe Luca Smith has signed his contract for next season, the Club is pleased to confirm and will remain at The Athletic Ground for his third season.

After starting the season playing thirteen games consecutively, Smith picked up an injury that required surgery which forced him to miss the rest of the season. He will be hoping to find his early season form again next year.

The Newcastle University graduate joined the Scots at the beginning of the 2017/18 season and after playing in the British and Irish Cup broke through into the Championship side.

Smith was pleased to be staying at the RAG for another year and was focused on getting back to full fitness again for the new season.

“Firstly I am really happy to be staying at London Scottish next season. It has been a tricky year for me after picking up my injury as I was really enjoying my rugby. However, now I am just focused on next season and I am really looking forward to getting back into training at pre-season and getting stuck in with the good bunch of boys here at the Club.”

Smith, who can also play on the wing, has made 23 appearances scoring 8 tries for the club over two seasons. He will join an exciting makeup of back three players next season with Rob Stevenson and Charlie Ingall both committing to the Exiles for next season.

Director of Rugby Dave Morris was happy that Smith would be staying with the Scots.

“We are delighted that Joe is staying on at London Scottish for a third season. Joe is relentless in driving his development to be the best he can be and this season before his injury we saw some standout performances as a consequence. Joe is a very well liked and respected figure across the whole club and he has really helped our OneClub vision come alive.”
