Overview

Following promotion to the RFU Championship, ambitious rugby club London Scottish are looking to employ a new Club & Community Development Officer as part of their growing off field team. The exciting post is a key aspect of the clubs strategic plans to return to sustainable top flight rugby. The post will offer the candidate an enviable opportunity to develop a broad and enjoyable range of skills in coaching, sports development and commercial avenues at the highest level. The candidate will also be uniquely poised to be part of a world famous club making its final steps back into the main stream. A successful candidate in the post is likely to be provided with opportunities for quick career progression.

Responsibilities

Driving the growth and overall development of the school and community programme alongside the Commercial Manager. Promoting London Scottish services into new schools. Developing a database and network of local partners. Linking these with the club events, match days and mini & junior sections.

• Day to day planning, preparation and delivery of high quality coaching to players of all ages in local schools and at LSFC.
• Co-ordinating and utilising the London Scottish 1st XV players in their contracted community hours through schools, club events and LSFC minis & juniors.  Further developing and managing the team of community coaches and their skill sets that have been established over the previous 2 years.
• Coordination and delivery of certain club and community based events including rugby camps, tournaments, and local community opportunities.
• Working with the Commercial Manager and Marketing Exec to execute and roll out commercial, event and match day promotions and engagements to the community and club.
• Building and maintaining the relationships between amateur and professional sections of London Scottish: working with mini & junior sides and academy manager to develop recruitment, provide coaching support and general club organisation.

Candidate Specification

 Required

 An RFU coaching qualification, minimum Level 2 or working towards it

• Must be educated to a minimum of 'GCSE' standard
• Current Criminal Records Bureau Check (CRB) – required upon interview
• Valid driving license and access to a suitable vehicle
• Experience of coaching within a school environment
• A passion for sport and an understanding of wider issues related to sport, health and education
• An enthusiastic, committed and self driven individual
• Good organisation and time management skills
• Excellent communication and motivation skills
• Willingness and flexibility to work weekends and occasional week nights

Advantageous

• Experience of sports development and /or leading a team of coaches
• Understanding of sports marketing
• Other NGB Level 1/Level 2 qualifications
• Degree qualified
• A Sporting Background  
• Experience of working with a wide variety of partners and stakeholders; including sports clubs and national governing bodies
• An ability to inspire others

Additional Information

Ideally the successful candidate should be a rugby person and already have a good knowledge and understanding of the game and the operation of club rugby union. They should be keen to develop a career in the sports/leisure industry.
