?London Scottish is delighted to announce the signing of the experienced Jonathan Mills as a player/coach.
Mills joins from Sale Sharks where he played over 100 matches during a four year spell with the Aviva Premiership club.
The 6ft 5” lock also spent six years at London Welsh where he took to the pitch 143 times, and before that had a spell at Llanelli Scarlets in his native Wales.
Mills has also played for the Barbarians and represented Wales at U16, U18, U19 & U21 level.
The second-row will be with the Scots until the end of January before heading to America to take up a player/coach role with the Dallas Griffins in the new Major League Rugby tournament.
The 33-year-old is excited about the next chapter in his career at the Athletic Ground:
“I'm looking forward to joining London Scottish, after speaking to Dave and Dan they felt I could add a lot to the current set up on and off the pitch. The opportunity to continue playing whilst helping me to develop my coaching ability at a high level will be an invaluable experience on my coaching journey. The lads have been great in helping me settle in and I'm excited to see what we can achieve in the coming season and can't wait for the first game.”
Director of Rugby Dave Morris is pleased to be adding further depth to his squad and coaching staff with this signing:
“I am delighted to welcome Jonathan to London Scottish. He is a good character fit for the environment we are developing. He will add considerable leadership, experience and physicality to the playing group. He will also be part of the coaching team with primary responsibility for the contact. He is just finishing his RFU Level 3 coaching qualification and is aspirational in coaching.”
