London Scottish have bolstered their squad this week making a signing ahead of Saturday’s Greene King IPA Championship clash with London Welsh.

Outside centre Dante Mama has joined from London Welsh after his short-term deal with the Championship leaders came to an end last week.

Mama spent last season at Doncaster Knights and was selected in the RFU Championship XV which played the Maori All Blacks in November 2012.

The 23-year-old was born in Nigeria but raised in Zimbabwe, playing for the latter at under-18 and under-20 level.

His grandfather is originally from Scotland and he represented Great Britain Student 7s at the World Student Games last year.

He joined London Welsh in the summer after Doncaster Knights were relegated but has now opted to move to the Athletic Ground until the end of the season.

London Scottish backs coach Mike Friday said: “Dante is someone we are familiar with as he played in a B&I Cup game against us earlier in the season.

“He is a powerful 13 who can also play full-back and on the wing.

“He has only been with us a couple of days but his skill-set is impressive and we are hopeful he will add competition to our backline.

“He ticks all the boxes and will be good to have around the squad.”
