On a rather overcast afternoon in Auckland London Scottish were delighted to be able to offer some pre-match “Scottish” hospitality to over 40 guests in an event which was jointly hosted with Scottish Rugby.
From 5pm supporters of both Scottish Rugby and London Scottish enjoyed the plush surroundings of Little Black Book's Clubhouse in the heart of central Auckland. The assembled guests ranged from former London Scottish (kilted kiwi) players from the 1970s to current London Scottish sponsors.
Mark Dodson, the newly appointed Scottish Rugby CEO, also attended the event which provided an excellent opportunity for him to meet and greet some of the Scottish faithful. Whilst enjoying the France v Tonga match on the big screens we were treated to an Q+A session at half time with Glasgow Rugby's Dougie Hall who discussed the Scots' challenge ahead as well as an understandably concerned Serge Betsen.
The event was a great opportunity to catch up with some old friends from London Scottish and was enjoyed by all. Sadly however, the result at Eden Park spoilt the mood somewhat, and the Scots departed the 2011 World Cup earlier than hoped.
