London Scottish is delighted to announce they will be hosting RaboDirect PRO 12 finalists Glasgow Warriors in a pre-season friendly at Richmond Athletic Ground on Saturday August 30, 3pm kick-off.
It will be the first meeting between the sides in more than 15 years and is one of three scheduled pre-season friendlies London Scottish will play in August.
Closer ties are being forged between the two clubs and London Scottish will head north to take on the Warriors in a pre-season friendly next summer.
London Scottish head coach James Buckland said: “It will be fantastic for us to test ourselves against a quality side like Glasgow Warriors.
“Gregor Townsend’s squad had a tremendous campaign last season and each year Glasgow Warriors just get better and better.”
He added: “It’s certainly a fixture which will excite both sets of fans and I’m told it was 1997 the last time the clubs met each other.
“We have built up a really good relationship with the Warriors and I look forward to welcoming Gregor, his backroom staff, players and officials to the Athletic Ground in August.”
Glasgow Warriors head coach Gregor Townsend said: “We’re really looking forward to playing London Scottish ahead of the new season.
“It will be a good test for the squad and it’s an important fixture as we prepare for our first league match the following weekend.”
