This season’s 1st XV player and Professional Entry Programme member Matas Jurevicius has been selected by England Counties Under 20 for their tour to Romania this summer.
Jurevicius came through London Scottish’s partner school Hayes before joining the 1st XV this summer. The second row did not appear for the 1st XV this season but has been out on loan at National Two South side Tonbridge Juddians where he has been developing his game whilst training full time with the professional 1st XV squad
Outgoing Director of Rugby Dave Morris was complimentary of Matas’ achievement and praised some of his teammates in helping his development this season.
“It is great to see Matas get well-deserved international representation. Matas was part of our juniors set up before signing a Professional Entry Programme contract with our professional squad. Matas went to Hayes School who are a valued partner school of London Scottish. This season Matas has benefitted from loan rugby at Tonbridge Judians which has accelerated his development playing week in week out with good coaching. I would like to extend my thanks to London Scottish senior players James Tyas and Byron Hodge who have mentored Matas really diligently throughout the season.”
This is the next step in international recognition for the former London Scottish Junior after he was selected for England Counties Under 18 last season.
Jurevicius is developing brilliantly at London Scottish and fully deserves his international recognition. Everyone at London Scottish would like to wish Matas the best of luck for his tour and games against Romania.
