The 20 year old was very excited to join Scottish’s professional setup.

“I’m delighted to of signed for London Scottish for the 2019/20 season. I know with the high level coaching staff and the fantastic training facilities London Scottish have to offer its the perfect place to progress as a professional player. It’s almost a dream come true for me to sign my first professional contract as it’s what I’ve always wanted to achieve since first touching a rugby ball.”

Davies continued, “I can’t wait to get started. I’ve heard great things about the London Scottish fans at the RAG so as a Welshman it will be great to hear the Scottish supporters cheering for a Welshman”.

The former Ospreys Under 18 player who was also named in the Wales Under 20 wider training squad will compete with Alex Toolis and Luke Frost for the second row shirt next season.

Head Coach Graham Steadman was looking forward to adding Davies to his squad next season.

“Matthew is a physical specimen and we are excited to get him in and working with him. He has a lot of potential which we can hopefully unlock.”
