New-look Scots name 13 debutants to take on Blackheath

London Scottish have named their starting line up for the first friendly of the 16/17 campaign as they take on Blackheath tomorrow afternoon.

After nine weeks of pre-season the Scots will face the National One outfit at Well Hall and the squad will be looking to make an impression ahead of the new season.

The starting line-up has a refreshed look with 13 debutants, just Rory Bartle and Alec Coombes have previously pulled on the London Scottish shirt. With four 20 minute blocks scheduled there will be plenty of rotation throughout as both sides try to give their squads as much game time as possible.

The front-row sees Jonny Harris, Cameron Fenton and Phil Cringle handed debuts, with Rory Bartle, who will captain the side, next to Dom McGeekie in the second-row. Ally Miller, Joe Atkinson and Ifereimi Boladau complete the pack in a new-look back-row.

Ed Hoadley starts at scrum-half with George Cullen at fly-half, and Tom Galbraith starts alongside Alec Coombes in an all Scottish centre pairing.

The back-three is also entirely new, with Ben Robbins and Connor Hayhow occupying the wings, and Ben Rath at full-back.

Head Coach Peter Richards is excited to put all of the training in to a match scenario.

“I'm sure this match will allow us to give the squad adequate game time as we build up to the new season, and Blackheath will be a good test for us tomorrow.”
