Scots name 26 man squad for Cardiff challenge

London Scottish have named their side for tomorrow’s pre-season friendly against Cardiff Blues at the Athletic Ground.

The Scots know that they are in for a tough challenge against the Guinness Pro 14 side, but after the impressive 47-24 victory over Rosslyn Park last weekend there is a lot of excitement amongst the squad.

Director of Rugby Dave Morris has trimmed the match-day squad to 26 as the Scots continue to build towards the new season after 11 weeks of preparation.

Jonny Harris, Dan George and Phil Cringle start in the front-row, with Jonathan Mills alongside debutant Tjiuee Uanivi in the second-row. Kyle Baillie, James Tyas and Danny Kenny will operate in a dynamic back-row.

Alex Walker and Basil Strong continue their half-back partnership, with Fraser Lyle moving in to the centre alongside Ross Neal. Connor Hayhow, Nick Scott and Craig Holland feature in a threatening back-three.

11 players have been named on the bench as Dave Morris looks to allow the majority of the squad plenty of game-time as the Greene King IPA Championship season draws closer.

Derrick Appiah, Isaac Miller and Ewan McQuillin will offer a front-row alternative whilst Mike Howard, Chris Walker and Ed Milne cover the rest of the pack.

Ed Hoadley provides scrum-half back-up, with Jake Sharp looking to make an impact when coming on at fly-half. Ben Mosses, Alec Coombes and Matt Williams complete the match-day squad, and demonstrate the depth on offer at the Athletic Ground for supporters to look forward to.

Player / Coach Dan George says that the whole squad are excited by the prospect of welcoming the Blues to the RAG.

“It’s a great opportunity to test ourselves. We know that the Blues will have quality throughout but we can show how hard we’ve been working as a squad.”
