Scots name strong side to face Jersey Reds as British and Irish Cup returns

London Scottish have made one change to their starting line up for the return of the British and Irish Cup, as they host Jersey Reds tomorrow afternoon at the Athletic Ground.

The Scots got off to a great start in the competition back in October securing victories against Cardiff Blues Premiership Select and Ulster ‘A’, which puts them in a strong position ahead of the back-to-back fixtures against the Channel Island club.

Dave Cherry comes back in to start at hooker in the only amendment to last weekend’s team that beat Ealing Trailfinders, with George Turner moving to the bench.

Grant Shiells, Cherry and Ewan McQuillin start in the front-row, with captain Rory Bartle and Neale Patrick continuing their second-row partnership. Ally Miller, Danny Kenny and Ifereimi Boladau retain their places in the back-row.

Ed Hoadley starts at scrum-half with Harry Sheppard at fly-half. Patrick Kelly and Robbie Fergusson make up an all-Scottish centre pairing whilst Jason Harries, Alec Coombes and Peter Lydon continue as the back-three.

George Turner, Jonny Harris and Dan Koroi offer a front-row alternative with Callum Hunter Hill and Joe Atkinson covering the rest of the pack. Craig Holland and Tom Galbraith make up the rest of the match day squad for the visit of Jersey.

Forwards Coach John Dalziel wants the Scots to continue their momentum after securing back-to-back victories in the Greene King IPA Championship.

“There has been a great attitude in recent weeks and these two weeks coming up will be a defining fortnight for us in the B&I Cup.” Said Dalziel.

He added: “It’s all about momentum now and we’re looking no further than Jersey on Saturday.”
