London Scottish travelled to the West Country to take on Hartpury knowing it was make or break time in their search to avoid the play offs. After a heavy defeat on the road which saw Hartpury run riot at times, the Exiles look destined for the relegation play offs to save their season.
Scottish began the day well, playing into a stiff breeze the controlled territory well for the first half an hour and stopped Hartpury scoring any more than a single penalty. In that time Scottish had chances to score themselves and but inaccuracies prevented this.
However, with ten minutes to go in the first half the floodgates opened. Consistent infringements from the Exiles coupled with knock ons gave Hartpury ins into the 22. They took their changes well scoring two tries before the break to go in 17-0 up as they made the most of their mauling and pick and go game.
It was the same story after half time as Hartpury kept their foot down to lock up the bonus point by the 50 minute mark. Scottish failed to gain any control on the game as their set piece malfunction and they failed to keep hold of the ball.
Hartpury secure six tries in the eighty minutes with the only bright spot being a late Lewis Barret try as he converted a spell of pressure to allow his side onto the score sheet. With injuries to key personal in the eighty minutes, coaches Joe Gray and Bryan Redpath will be scratching their heads going into next week.
