Scottish End Regular Season on a High

10th May 2026

With the play offs just a week away, Saturday’s game could have been seen as a dead rubber, but Scottish knew it was a perfect chance to build some much needed momentum and confidence. Under the sun at the RAG they did just that, pulling out a dogged display to down Caldy on the final day of the regular season.

However, the day could not have started worse for the Exiles. Caldy streaked away off the kick off in the first minute to score under the posts. 7-0 inside a minute, it could not have begun worse for Scottish.

The Exiles showed their character in response, building back into the game. Showing great physicality in the face of one of the best scrums in the league and strongest packs.

Vereimi Qorowale, picked through the ruck in the 17th minute, linking up with Dan Nutton who then found Oli Duncan who would go in for the try to tie the score at 7-7.

Both sides would have chances to retake the lead in the first half but neither were able to take them as the game went to the break in a deadlock.

Scottish struck first after the break through Oli Duncan as he went over from short range after a period of pressure from the Scots.

Caldy then looked to turn things around but came up against a stout Scottish defence. Forcing a mistake, Theo Povey jumped on the loose ball and went in from 65m to score his try on debut.

For the remainder of the game Scottish weathered the storm from their opponents. Caldy scored one from the driving maul with 10 minutes to go but manful defence and a passionate display saw Scottish get over the line for a win.

It was a big statement going into a third fixture against Richmond this season and off the back of a defeat last week. A big confidence boost going into one of the biggest games this side has been through.
