London Scottish ended their Premiership Cup campaign with another spirited performance against Ealing Trailfinders who with a win booked their place as the only Championship side into the quarter finals of the competition.
The Exiles battled bravely for the eighty minutes and lead or much of the first half. However, the power and size of the Ealing side ultimately proved too much for London Scottish on the day.
The match started perfectly for the Exiles, winning early territory through an Ealing infringement. London Scottish went to the corner and managed to maul over the much famed Ealing pack for an early score.
Ealing would hit back midway through the first half with a score of their own but Alec Lloyd-Seed kept the Exiles ahead with a penalty well struck from 40m out.
However, either side of half time Ealing pulled away from London Scottish scoring four tries, two either side of the half, they took the game away from London Scottish in this period. A mix of London Scottish taking their foot off the pedal and Ealing showing their class in this competition, the North-West London side racked up 28 unanswered points in this period.
The Exiles battled back bravely towards the end of the match and started to move the ball around effectively. This all came to fruition with an excellent Jonah Holmes break down the left hand side. He linked up with Hayden Hyde who was able to feed the ball back to him for a excellent try to finish off the game.
London Scottish now head into a four week break before Championship action resumes on the 21st March against Cornish Pirates down in Cornwall.
