Scottish Target Jersey Win

17th April 2014

London Scottish Head Coach James Buckland has made four changes to the starting XV for this weekend’s trip to Jersey.

Eric Fry returns in the front-row with dual-registered Harlequins scrum-half Sam Stuart, centre Andy Reay and winger Mike Doneghan also earning recalls.

The match will have major repercussions at the foot of the Greene King IPA Championship with Jersey, Ealing Trailfinders and Nottingham Rugby battling it out to avoid relegation.

Scottish’s 19-15 win over Bedford Blues last week means they will end the season in fifth place, their highest league finish in 15 years.

However Buckland is determined to end the season on a high, starting with victory over Jersey on Saturday, 2pm kick-off.

He said: “It could be easy for us to sit back and accept fifth but we want to win against Jersey and build nicely towards Bristol next week.

“We will be going there fully prepared and ready for everything Jersey throw at us.

“This is Jersey’s biggest game of the season because they are fighting for their lives.

“I am sure it will be hugely physical and they will be really pumped up.”

He continued: “Last year we went to St Peter’s and lost which was a real disappointment and the boys are keen to make amends.

“But we know how hard it will be with so much on the line for Jersey.

“It will be a highly emotive and passionate game and a tough 80 minutes for everyone involved.”
