St Andrew’s Day at the Savoy a huge success for fourth year running

29th November 2016

The fourth St Andrew’s Day at The Savoy celebrations for Scots in London was held on Friday 25th November 2016 and very much enjoyed by over 200 guests.

Hosted by Sir David Reid and supporting The ARCHIE Foundation, an Aberdeen based charity that aims to ‘make the difference’ for sick children in the North of Scotland as well as London Scottish, four iconic Scots picked up the Great London Scot Awards to great acclaim from the assembled guests – Jamie Murray OBE and Gordon Reid for Outstanding Young Talent; Dr Katherine Grainger CBE for Outstanding Achievement and Sir Ian Wood GBE for Lifetime Achievement.

One of last year’s winners – David Smith MBE – was invited back to update the audience on his progress since last year and was once again, given a standing ovation.

Jim Brown, MBE from the ‘idyllic wee village of Fettercairn’ had the guests rolling in the aisles with his hilarious speech and Jonny Gould never fails to disappoint with his quick wit and persuasive humour that encourages people to part with their money for the fantastic array of prizes on offer in the live auction.

Our enormous thanks and appreciation to our event sponsors – Cairnhill Structures Ltd, Glengoyne Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky – as well as to Tunnock’s, One Water and Nyetimber – who all contributed to a successful and most importantly, enjoyable event.

The ‘must attend’ event for Scots in London – SAVE THE DATE FOR NEXT YEAR ON FRIDAY 24TH NOVEMBER 2017.
