U9s at Middlesex Festival – close, so close!

26th March 2013

The London Scottish U9s recently entered two sides into the Middlesex Festival, putting on a great display despite the poor weather.

On a very cold Sunday morning, London Scottish Under 9's entered two teams into the Middlesex festival. The teams kept attacking and defending till the final whistle … top marks for effort. A good day despite the weather, and the boys were a credit to us.

For those of you who didn't see the matches The Highlanders came very close, but never quite sealed the wins, drawing two, and losing one in pool, they then went on to draw in the plate quarter finals before conceding defeat in the last game. Who knows how far they would have gone but for those last minute tries. They played some really good rugby throughout though.

The Picts (Oscar, Noah, William, Eddie, Jude, Max, Ewan and Luke) started a player down, and ended up 2 down, yet played some great rugby against some very strong opposition. Although they lost all their four games they showed tremendous spirit and never gave up.

Lots of positives for all the players, and lots of work to do as we prepare for our end of season tour to Holt.

Points of note were Eddie rucking and tackling anything that moved, Ben and Ollie rapier like in attack, Jacob bruising in defence, William's pace with the new boots and Jude laying down his claim for the position of U9 fashionista!

Coaches verdict: “The U9's played better than England.” High praise indeed!

Thanks to the mums who took the attached photos throughout the day. There are some great action photos, and the players had a lot of fun throughout.
