Words from the Pride – Ealing

London Scottish travel to unbeaten league leaders Ealing this weekend where they will be eyeing an upset and a big performance as they go into the final block of the season. With two week’s off under their belt, we sat down with Head Coach Joe Gray to discuss this weekend and the run in to the end of the season.

“The break has been massively needed for this group, we have been going hard since the start of the year and have naturally picked up a few injuries and niggles, so a chance to reset and get back on top of these was a big boost to the group.

We had a great opportunity to train with Harlequins at the Stoop last Thursday night. A great chance for our boys to rub shoulders and learn from some of the best. Not only was it a good experience for the whole group but also a really great training session going into a big block of games.”

“This next couple of months is going to be huge for the Club and the squad. It’s not one we are shying away from and it’s a massive challenge for the whole Club to come together and get us over the line. We’ve got some really winnable games coming up which is huge for us, playing the sides above us gives us a good chance to chase them down but we’ll have to be at our best to do it.

That all starts this weekend with a trip to Ealing, they are a brilliant side displayed by their unbeaten record thus far. But we have upset them before so we are definitely eyeing a win. However, a performance is equally important. If we are physical, stick to our gameplan and express our attacking talent then we’ll be in a good place to put a marker down to how we want to perform for the end of the season.”

Ealing sit atop of the Champ table with 19 wins from 19 games and 17 bonus points so will be a formidable test. However, London Scottish can hark back to a famous win at the end of 2023 when the Exiles put to bed another long Ealing winning run for another huge victory.

However, they will have to overcome a side that leads the Champ in tries and points scored, 127 and 827. The Trailfinders also lead the league in line breaks, making 161 across 19 rounds.

Clearly, London Scottish will have to sure up their defence to be in with a shout of a win on Saturday. With improving tackles completion rates and the most amount of tackles turnovers in round 19, the trends are good. However, we will find out on Saturday when the two sides collide!
