This Saturday’s match against Cornish Pirates sees the launch of a new initiative for season 2012-13, providing teams in the Mini & Junior section the opportunity to interact with the senior players on match day and also the match day crowd.
Throughout the season, each age group is allocated two home fixtures at which they can run any activity they feel will be of benefit to them. Today the U12s will be holding a kicking competition at half time, as well as a recruiting & fundraising via a bucket shake. Please give generously.
A message from Ian Hannah, Minis & Juniors Fixtures Secretary:
“Welcome to the LSFC Minis.
We run mixed ability, mixed gender teams, from U6’s to U12’s. The emphasis is on all players getting involved and having fun. Most of the players come from schools in the nearby area, only a few are Scots, so don’t worry, we won’t make you wear a kilt. Throughout the season we have a series of competitive matches, and tournaments interspersed with training days where we concentrate on developing the players’ confidence and ability using modified games and specific skills practice in small groups. Last year we finished the season with a tour to Norfolk which was enjoyed by all (players and parents). With dedicated RFU accredited coaches, plus support from the wider LSFC coaching community we provide a safe and fun environment for the developing players. We also have dedicated LSFC 1st Xv players to call on to help spice up the training sessions and work with the team.
Training is from 9:30-11:30 each Sunday at the Richmond Athletic Ground, home to the LSFC Championship side. Why not come along and enjoy the fun, all you need are Rugby boots (we have studs you can use in your football boots to make it easy), a gum shield (why not use the professional dental fitting service available at the start of the season), and a drink to enjoy during the sessions.
We look forward to seeing you soon.”
