Exciting young centres Tom Griffiths and Tom Fowlie have joined London Scottish from Saracens and London Irish respectively.
Griffiths comes to the Scots after some bad luck with injuries meaning he has struggled to play much rugby over the last 12 months but his impressive pedigree speaks for itself. For the 2017/18 season he signed a 1st team contract at Saracens but various injuries have stalled his progression. He arrives with Scottish on dual-registration and will be looking to get some meaningful gametime under his belt.
Griffiths boasts England age grade experience having playing at Under 18 level and represented England Under 20s in the 2014 Six Nations.
Tom Fowlie makes the short switch from fellow exiles and Greene King IPA Championship leaders London Irish on loan. He could be the fourth London Irish player to represent the Scots this season.
23 year old Fowlie also arrives at The Athletic Ground with vast experience at both Premiership and Championship level. He has made over fifty appearances for the London Irish senior side and was instrumental in their promotion back to the premiership back in the 2016/17 season.
Like Griffiths, Fowlie has also played for both England Under 18s and 20s. The powerful centre who can also play on the wing has had limited opportunities this season at Irish so will be hoping he can show what he can do with the Scots.
Director of Rugby Dave Morris was happy to bring in two more players who boast serious pedigree.
“We are delighted to welcome the two Toms to London Scottish. They started training with us last week and have immediately shown their quality as players. Both of them had strong existing friendships within our squad so they have fitted in very quickly.”
Morris continued, “My thanks to Declan Kidney at London Irish and Mark McCall at Saracens for enabling these two deals.”
Both Griffiths and Fowlie go into contention for selection ahead of this Friday’s game against Hartpury.
